# Agent quickstart (/agent-quickstart)

Finic's MCP server is:

```text
https://api.finic.ai/mcp
```

Add it to your AI app as a custom connector. The first time your agent uses it, it shows you a sign-in link: sign in to Finic or create an account there, approve access, and your app gets its token automatically. Your agent never sees a key.

## Add the connector [#add-the-connector]

<Tabs items="['Claude', 'ChatGPT', 'Cursor', 'VS Code', 'Claude Code', 'Codex', 'Other']">
  <Tab value="Claude">
    In claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Cowork, open [Customize → Connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors&#x29;, choose **+ Add → Add custom connector**, name it **Finic**, enter `https://api.finic.ai/mcp` and add it. Then choose **Connect** and sign in.

    On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds it once under [Organization settings → Connectors](https://claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors) (**Add → Custom → Web**); each member then chooses **Connect** under Customize → Connectors.
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="ChatGPT">
    Open [Settings → Connectors](https://chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors), then **Advanced**, and turn on **Developer mode**. Choose **Create**, name it **Finic**, enter `https://api.finic.ai/mcp`, choose **OAuth** and create it. Developer mode needs a paid plan; on Business and Enterprise, a workspace admin may need to allow it first.
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="Cursor">
    <a href="cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=Finic&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2FwaS5maW5pYy5haS9tY3AifQ==" className="flp-btn">
      Add to Cursor
    </a>

    Or add it to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`:

    ```json title="mcp.json"
    { "mcpServers": { "finic": { "url": "https://api.finic.ai/mcp" } } }
    ```

    Cursor opens your browser to sign in when it connects.
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="VS Code">
    <a href="vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22finic%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fapi.finic.ai%2Fmcp%22%7D" className="flp-btn">
      Add to VS Code
    </a>

    Or run **MCP: Add Server** from the Command Palette, choose **HTTP** and enter `https://api.finic.ai/mcp`. VS Code opens your browser to sign in.
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="Claude Code">
    ```bash
    claude mcp add --transport http finic https://api.finic.ai/mcp
    ```

    Then run `/mcp`, select `finic` and choose **Authenticate**. Add `--scope user` to use it in every project.
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="Codex">
    ```bash
    codex mcp add finic --url https://api.finic.ai/mcp
    codex mcp login finic
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab value="Other">
    Any client that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth works with just the URL. For a client that can't sign in, use [`/mcp/keys`](/mcp/sign-up), or send an API key as `Authorization: Bearer gsk_…` to `/mcp`.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Then ask your agent [#then-ask-your-agent]

> Set up Finic for me.

> Use Finic to test whether it can catch the chargebacks in `payments.csv`.

> Ask Finic whether this case looks like account takeover: a login from a new device abroad, a password reset, then a $4,900 wire to a new payee six minutes later.

## How agents use Finic [#how-agents-use-finic]

1. **Call [`get_quickstart_skill`](/mcp/get-quickstart-skill) first.** It returns a skill that walks the agent through setup with you: data retention, your test data, your use case, testing Finic's accuracy and going live.
2. **Decisions work out of the box.** [`decide`](/mcp/decide) answers questions about any case right away.
3. **Scores need setup.** [`create_score`](/mcp/create-score) builds a score from labeled examples (your data, or sample data the agent generates to try it out). Wait for it with [`get_job_status`](/mcp/get-job-status), then call [`score`](/mcp/score) with records in the same shape as the examples. Send outcomes later with [`calibrate`](/mcp/calibrate). [`list_scores`](/mcp/list-scores) shows the scores already created.

Every tool, its price and how its errors come back are in the [MCP reference](/mcp). Signed-in apps are listed in the Finic Portal under [API keys](https://portal.finic.ai/keys), where you can sign them out; see [Authentication](/authentication#mcp-sign-in).
