# update_scoring_model (/mcp/update-scoring-model)



Changes a scoring model, as [`PATCH /v1/scoring_models/{model_id}`](/reference/update-scoring-model). Free.

| `name`     | Optional. A new name: a few words the user will recognize it by                                                                   |
| `criteria` | Optional. New criteria: what the decision is and what `is_bad` means. It can be emptied only once the scoring model is calibrated |
| `archived` | Optional. `true` to archive it, `false` to unarchive it                                                                           |
| `api_key`  | `/mcp/keys` only                                                                                                                  |

Send at least one of `name`, `criteria` and `archived`. Returns the scoring model as [`get_scoring_model`](/mcp/get-scoring-model) does.

* **Criteria** is what Finic writes the scoring model's questions with at its first calibration, and weighs the user's questions by until then. Changing it doesn't change the questions it has.
* **An archived scoring model** can't [`score`](/mcp/score) or be [calibrated](/mcp/calibrate), which get `scoring_model_archived`, until it's unarchived. Nothing about it is deleted.
